Cattle Drives

Guest meet at the ranch at 8:00 in the morning.

Our cattle drives rides are unique in the way that they are not “nose to tail” trail rides. We move cattle, check for sickness, get in strays and make sure that everything on the ranch is doing well. Cattle drives are a time where you can get back to life's essentials, the horse riding pace on cattle drives is usually slow, that’s what makes a cattle drive a wonderful experience. 3 - 3 hour ride.

Price is $90/horse (age 10 & older). Horses for all abilities.

2-hour Photo Opportunity Ride

Operating Tuesday - Saturday

Guest meet at the ranch at 1:30 in the afternoon

Our 2 hour afternoon ride is a perfect opportunity to enjoy some beautiful scenery, take some gorgeous pictures, and learn about the cows and calves. There is excellent chance of seeing wildlife.

Price is $55/horse (age 6 & older). Horses for all abilities.

Horseback/Wagon Dinner Rides

Operating Tuesday and Friday Nights

Guest meet at the ranch at 5:30pm.

Your choice of taking a 30-minute horseback or horse-drawn wagon ride to our new Double Dollar Lodge. When you arrive at the lodge you will be welcomed with cold drinks and given a chance to take in the scenery before dinner. After dinner take a chance and let us teach you how to calf rope. At the end of the evening you will enjoy the ride home viewing the beautiful Colorado sunset from the wagon or on horseback.

Dinner Menu
Your choice of New York Strip Steak, Marinated & Grilled Pork Tenderloin, Baked Garlic Salmon or Teriyaki Chicken. Served with Cowboy Baked Beans, Ranch Style Potato, Garlic Vinaigrette Salad & Warm Bread.

For Dessert it will be the Chef’s choice (some examples: brownies, strawberry- rhubarb dessert, chocolate cherry cake, peach crisp or warm bread pudding with a vanilla sauce.)

Kids menu: Hamburger or hot dog or may choose from adult menu.

*We have a wide selection of wines off our wine list and several choices of domestic and microbrewed bottled beers available for purchase upon arrival.

ATV Scenic Ranch Tours

Our professional guides will lead you on a scenic tour of 8,000 acre Saddleback Ranch while riding new, easy to drive ATV’s. Explore the some of the most spectacular beauty Mother Nature has to offer and learn about our ranching heritage. Get up close to our herd of 1,200 yearling angus cattle, check out our longhorn cows and calves while enjoying views of the Flattops, Mt. Werner, Sleeping Giant and the magnificent Mount Zirkel Wilderness. This experience will make your vacation unforgettable!

All drivers must be 16 years of age with valid drivers license.
Single rider Honda 4-wheelers with electronic shifting automatic transmissions.
Double to Six rider machines are Polaris Rangers with automatic transmissions.

Liability

Due to insurance liability and manufacturer recommendation, Saddleback Ranch tours are guided by qualified tour guides for your safety and enjoyment. We feature top of line Honda 4 wheelers (single person vehicles), Polaris Rangers (2-3 people) and Crew-Cab Polaris Rangers (4-6 people comfortably) all with automatic transmissions. All participants are required to wear safety helmets provided in tour cost.
This activity is not recommended for pregnant women or children under five.
Drivers must be at least 16 years with a valid ID, and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Drivers must be 18 years old to carry a passenger. All parties are required to sign a liability waiver and provide a credit card imprint for a damage deposit. Drivers are held liable for all damage to vehicles.
We recommend long pants and shoes suitable for outdoor activity, sunscreen and sunglasses, please bring a jacket because weather can change quickly.
We strictly enforce 24 hour non-refundable cancellation policy.

Directions

Take HWY 40 West out of Steamboat 10 miles. At mile marker 122 take a left onto county road 178, which will turn into County Road 179. Follow County road 179, 3 miles across the rail road tracks, over the river and pass a housing development, the ranch headquarters is on the left side of the road.
